Dr. Ozak Esu has jointly won the Mike Sargeant Career Achievement Award for Young Professionals by the Institute of Engineering and Technology, or IET. Dr. Ozak is an excellent electrical engineer who has been working for Cundall since 2014. The announcement of this award was made yesterday and Ozak managed to fight off competition from around the world in order to be jointly named winner of the Career Achievement Award.
Dr. Ozak Esu was first inspired to study electronic and electrical engineering because of the power crisis in her home country of Nigeria. Ozak travelled from Nigeria in order to study a BEng Electronic and Electrical Engineering degree at Loughborough University. after graduating in 2011 with a first class honours degree, she was awarded a scholarship by her university to work for her PhD in advanced signal processing and wind energy. Since becoming a member of the team at Cundall, Dr. Ozak has worked hard to be an amazing STEM ambassador and uses her free time to tutor disadvantaged young people. It is great news that she has been recognised with the IET award.
The IET awards are well known and prestigious industry achievements. The IET awards showcase the best engineers and technologists in the industry as well as celebrate the skills shown by the range of amazing young professionals, students and apprentices training and working in the engineering industry.
Cundall provides multi-discipline engineering consultancy services and also works to deliver a range of sustainable solutions. Dr. Ozak has developed an interest in sustainability through her studies and this is at the heart of what she does in Cundall. The announcement of her achievement at the IETs follows another prestigious recognition by the Telegraph, who have put her in their ‘Top 50 Women in Engineering under 35’. Dr. Ozak will receive her Michael Sargeant Award at a ceremony help on the 15th November.
