Last week the PERCH Elmsbrook development was started in Bicester. The co-working space has been designed by Architype and will integrate into the North West Bicester Eco Town. The construction work is being carried out by Kier Group who have been working with Cherwell District Council as the project develops.
The development will create a 1,400 sqm. And three storey building that will have enough office space for 125 people. The development will offer a highly sustainable working space for individuals and small businesses. The PERCH Elmsbrook development is one of two projects owned by Cherwell District Council. The second project is Franklins House.
The building has been designed to be stylish as well as considerate and useful providing more office space for either new or expanding businesses. The development is subject to support from the European Regional Development Funding. Cherwell Council are focused on investing in developments that have a social, economic and environmental impact. The council is also looking to invest in developments that have are as energy efficient as possible during construction and after completion.
Alongside the drive for a sustainable development, PERCH Elmsbrook has been designed with the intention of achieving the BREEAM Excellent rating. The building will utilise as many natural resources as possible and provide a healthy environment while also being as energy efficient as possible. The location for the development is very accessible which is beneficial for when the workspace is completed, allowing for a number of sustainable travel options to the workspace.
As well as working on the development, Kier Group have been in communication for members of the local community. This link allows for up-to-date information about the construction work to be delivered to the community as well as opens up a number of opportunities for the construction company to give back while the development is ongoing.
