The Women in Architecture Awards Will Start Soon
The Women in Architecture Awards will be holding its annual edition on the second of March at Claridge’s in London. Celebrating great design by women from around the world, the show has been running since 2012, acclaiming women for their achievements in the field.
During the luncheon the winners of the Woman Architect of the Year and the Moria Gemmill Prize for emerging architecture will be announced, while the yet-to-be-announced winners of Jane Drew Prize and the Ada Huxtable Prize will hold presentations.
Those who wish to attend will have the great opportunity to hear about the work of those exceptional women and can meet and network with colleagues from across the industry and share best practice and experience.
The Ada Huxtable Prize is given to non-architects, and last year it was won by artist Rachel Whiteread as recognition of her contribution to architecture and the built environment. The Jane Drew prize was awarded to Denise Scott Brown and it was previously won by architects Zaha Hadid and Eva Jiricna.
“These awards allow us to recognise women pushing the boundaries of innovation and creativity in design,” said Architectural Record’s editor in chief, Cathleen McGuigan, in an announcement of the winners of last year.
The advantages of being part of this campaign are numerous, from the £10,000 reward provided with the Moira Gemmill Prize to the global online, newspaper, and radio coverage. The winners and shortlisted entrants will make the headlines, bringing international recognition upon them.
The Women in Architecture campaign is an annual survey, a partner programme, and a series of events and awards that celebrate the best design by women architects worldwide and promote role models for young women in practice. Together with its partner, The Architectural Review, they both aim to change the profession for the better.
