BriggsAmasco is the largest national commercial roofing company in the UK. It has been announced that the leading roofing company has supplied a multiple-roof system in order to transform a highly recognizable landmark in London into a desirable mixed-use development.
The company has been involved in the creation and installation of green roofs for several years. This includes providing training in the concept as well as the application of the systems involved to install these sustainable roofs. BriggsAmasco are therefore a good choice to deliver a sustainable and waterproof roofing solution to the redevelopment of the Battersea Power Station located in south-west London. The nice looking and environmentally friendly roofs installed by the business encourages an improved sense of wellbeing to their occupants as well as including a biodiverse layer on to a normally grey and drab looking area of property, the roof. These aspects of a sustainable roof have made them perfect for the Battersea Power Station development which is promoting itself as a completely modern residential and commercial complex.
The main contractors for the Battersea project is Carillion, and the selected BriggsAmasco to install the multiple level roof system for phase one of the eight phase project. The development is located a 39-acre site and will change the derelict site into what is being called a mini-city which will include retail stores as well as restaurants and bars, a six-acre park and a community theatre as well as residential apartments.
The first phase of the development will consist of 12 high-rise residential blocks that will stand on the west of the site. These will consist of 850 residential apartments as well as retail facilities, business studios, theatre space and two levels of parking. As part of this phase BriggsAmasco has been contracted to supply six green roofs as well as two lower level roofs that will be made up of limestone paving.
