Weston-super-Mare based fit-out contractor County Contractors is set to raise £40,000 for charity as staff complete a Coast-2-Coast bike ride that will also mark the 40th anniversary of the business.
Five members of County Contractors’ head office team swapped their hard hats for cycle helmets and rode a gruelling 260 mile route that swept throughout England. Departing from Botany Bay, Kent on September 23, the team crossed the finish line just three days later on September 25 on Weston-super-Mare’s iconic Grand Pier.
The team’s achievement has been sponsored by a series of national and local companies along with friends, family and colleagues in their attempts to raise at least £40,000 to support six charities as County Contractors celebrates its 40th successful year in business under the motto ’40 for 40!’.
The specialist refurbishment contractor was founded in 1976 and has developed a reputation both regionally and nationally for the delivery of quality projects. Among County Contractors’ clients are international hotel chains Hilton, Marriott, Guoman Thistle and Sheraton as well as a number of retail outlets including Boots The Chemist, which has used the services of County Contractors’ continuously over the last 40 years.
Commenting on the Coast-2-Coast cycle challenge, Peter Mercer, who took part in the event, said: “This fundraiser is all about County Contractors giving something back to the community on the occasion of our 40th anniversary.
“We’ve always actively helped charitable causes and engaged with our local community to provide support for those who are disadvantaged in some way. With ’40 for 40!’ we want to extend that support and rally our business contacts to give our largest contribution yet to six charities that have each touched, and benefitted, the lives of our staff or their loved ones.
“The ride was tough going but great fun, and we all just kept peddling in the knowledge that our efforts were raising much needed funds for great causes.”
