The Government has formed and Industry Response Group in order to plan and organise the professional response to the Grenfell Tower Fire. The Department for Communities and Local Government has asked the Construction Products Association to join three other major industry associations in order to provide a response to the Tower Fire tragedy.
The Industry Response Group will B working towards delivering information and assistance for the Government and the construction industry going forward from the disaster, and have been asked by the Governmental department to collaborate as part of the Response Group in order to reduce overlaps in responses.
The group that has includes Build UK, the construction industry’s leading representative organisation that works to bring together people from all aspects of the construction industry, from Clients to Contractors. Also involved in the Response Group is the Construction Industry Council, which is a forum that has been set up in order to offer all professionals a voice in the industry. The final significant name involved in the group is the Construction Products Association, who has been asked to join the group in order to represent the views and opinions of the manufacturers and distributors in the construction industry.
This Industry Response Group will be expected to look back on the event and work with all of their members in order to offer essential advice to the Government as well as professionals in the construction industry in regards to possible solutions for particular buildings in order to make homes, offices and the public safer. The group will also be working on the most up to date methods of construction that could allow access to technical experts when needed. The Industry Response Group will also work with the Government, assisting them with the relevant construction sub-sectors and advising on the best ways to deliver work in a timely manner.
