The Grand Housing Group, or GUHG, has revealed that it has helped its tenants gain £3 million of income over the last year. The Money and Benefits teams at the subsidiaries of GUHG as well as Aragon Housing Association and South Northants Homes have all been working on around 1,200 cases over the last 12 months in order to make sure that their tenants are receiving money that they are entitled to.
The help provided by the Group and the other associations consists of a variety of services including budgeting and debt advice. The tenants can access services which informs them what benefits they may be entitled to as well as ensuring the tenants are on the best utilities tariffs.
The GUHG is a leading provider of housing and other related services, and they work in Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire. The Group owns and manages more than 11,000 properties and also helps people access the housing market through schemes including shared ownership and other initiatives for home ownership. The Group has been working to develop more than 250 new homes a year. These developments are taking place in partnership with developers and land owners. GUHG has three different subsidiary companies which are Aragon Housing Association, Rockingham Forest Housing, and South Northants Homes. GUHG is also a partner of the Home and Communities Agency and are named on their Affordable Homes Programme.
The Head of Housing and Communities at GUHG, Gill Higginson has mentioned that their Group works to support their tenants and make sure their quality of life is improved. The Group work with services that are not financial such as securing food parcels and attending tribunal hearings in order to act as an advocate for their tenants. GUHG aim to help the tenants in the most caring way possible even in difficult situations. Furthermore, the money that tenants can save from using the services at GUHG can really make a difference to tenants.
