London Hosts Liveable City Conference
There will be a Liveable City Conference held between the 13 th and the 16 th June at the Danish Embassy
in the UK. The Conference is being organised to fit alongside thee programme of activities for the
London Festival of Architecture. The conference is also being organised in partnership with The Royal
Institute for British Architects. Denmark is thought to create the highest standard cities, with those living
in Danish cities having a good quality of live as well as high air quality and beautifully designed spaces. It
is thought that those who are city dwellers in Denmark are healthier because of how the cities have
been developed. The Conference that is being put on in June this year will consist of nine different
seminars that are open to businesses, professionals and members of the public. The aim of the event is
to see if communication between the British and Denmark can encourage new ideas that could help the
make our cities better.
Cities at the moment are the largest that they have ever been, with an increasing number of people
relocating to cities. In order to accommodate these extra people, more facilities need to be developed.
This means that there needs to be more shops, restaurants, bars, cafes, schools and houses. On top of
this the facilities that are being developed then need to be the right size and look appealing for those
looking to relocate to buy them. With the growing number of people living in these rapidly expanding
cities, overall city planning could be put further down the priorities in favour of getting more things built
for people to occupy. Therefore, the conference will be a place where ideas for making developments
better, and making sure that property that is being created resembles Denmark, and their happy healthy
spaces to live, work and socialize in.
