Mexico City based lighting design practice, Lux Populi, is set to expand its reach with a new UK team.
The award winning practice was first established by Thomas Paterson more than 10 years ago and has since grown to a team of 19.
Lux Populi has a strong client base across the Americas but has projects and clients throughout the world.
To allow the practice to grow and to better serve clients in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India, Lux Populi is now achieving a long held ambition to create a UK team.
Since it was created, the practice has built a number of relationships in the architectural community, which included collaborations with Gensler, Wheeler Kearns, Renzo Piano, Tadao Ando and a number of others.
Lux Populi has now turned to Bob Bohannon to lead the new team. Bohannon and Paterson have been friends since their early co-operation on Metal 57, Renault’s media headquarters in Paris in the early 2000s. Bohannon will bring with him strong leadership skills and 30 years of lighting experience.
Bohannon commented: “Having worked with Thomas over the years, I’m struck by several things, firstly, of course, is his output of innovative, engineered-in-the-round and effective lighting schemes. But Thomas also has a formidable technological brain, able to synthesise leading edge science and technology from fields well beyond lighting.”
Lux Populi’s first projects in the UK are set to begin in January next year with the launch of its office in Oxford.
The team will be led by Bohannon along with Associate Oriana Romero, who will relocate from Mexico City to support the new team.
Romero said: “I have no doubt, after all these years working with the Mexico team, that we are ready to grow to the next level, face new challenges and enjoy new successes. We are extremely excited to share our knowledge, passion and creativity with anyone joining us in this new adventure.”
Lux Populi are now recruiting a team of UK lighting designers.
