The Old Oak Masterplan, a project that is based in north-west London, has been won by a group that was led by AECOM. The team that was involved in the bid have expertise in a range of different sectors. The group has managed to fight off the competition in order to win the contract to prepare the Old Oak Project.
The project is being let by Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation and it is thought that the Masterplan will lead to a large scale redevelopment in north east London. It is thought that this redevelopment programme could lead to the creation of 25,500 new homes and 65,000 jobs across the Old Oak area and the nearby Park Royal industrial estate.
The Old Oak Masterplan is scheduled to be an enormous development project that would take place in an area that is around twice the size of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Old Oak is thought to be London’s biggest and best strategically placed Opportunity Areas. This area is where High Speed 2 and Crossrail meet and is set to become one of the best connected areas of the capital city. The development of HS2 will allow passengers to get from Old Oak to Birmingham in 40 minutes as well as other connections to the so called UK Northern Powerhouse cities.
Amongst the team that have won the work is Jason Prior and Maccreanor Lavington and Legacy Masterplans. For the design aspect of the team, Asif Kham, BIG, Spacehub and Weston Williamson will be working together in order to make the most out of this redevelopment opportunity. AECOM will be working as an anchor for the team and make sure that the designs put forward meet the brief that has been detailed by the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation. The team are expected to start work on the project in June.
