The Scottish Government has launched a new plan that will hopefully lead to more apprentices being recruited in the House Building sector of the Construction industry. In a time period where housing developments are being created in order to meet the demand that has been created, there is a growing skills that needs to be filled. It would be really beneficial for the property development sector to take on more apprentices in order to fill the skills gap as well as to stabilize the future of the sector.
The Housing Apprenticeship Action Plan for Scotland 2017-2020 is a three-year plan that continues the work already started by the Scottish Government in 2014. It is hoped that the ideas and schemes that are set out within the Action Plan will help the sector take on more apprentices over the next three years. The plan displays the intention of the Government to make sure that the House Building sector is appealing to young people looking to start a career in development.
It is hoped that the Housing Action Plan that has been published by The Scottish Federation of Housing Associations shows the commitment of the Government and will lead to an expansion of what is available in terms of Modern Apprenticeships. The Government is wanting to support the success and hard work of motivated young people wanting to pursue a career within the Property and Development sector.
It is hoped that the Housing Apprenticeship Action Plan for Scotland will continue to develop the ideas that were first made public in 2014 such as the Apprenticeship Challenge which was a competition open to young working people and was an award winning scheme that ran for three years. Hopefully there will also be an increase in the level of funding in order to help more young people who may otherwise struggle get apprenticeships. With the increase in property and development around for the near future it is paramount that young people are encouraged to follow a career within this sector.
