The Labour Party candidate for the mayoral election in Greater Manchester has visited a site in Sale that was formerly an infamous eyesore. Rt. Hon Andy Burnham is the MP for Leigh as well as a candidate for the mayoral election, he visited the Sale site that has been developed by Trafford Housing Trust. The development has created new stylish residential space where there was formerly an eyesore.
The Trafford Housing Trust is an organisation that works to develop housing schemes for sale. The profits of these housing schemes are then used as a subsidy for the development of other new homes. The organisation works to create affordable housing as well as mixed-use sites and assisted living developments. The work done by the Trafford Housing Trust is in an attempt to deliver a social impact to the Trafford area as well as across the North West. The organisation has been working for the past decade and has managed more than 9,000 homes in this period.
The Sale site has been called The Maples and now offers both family homes and apartments. The site is located off Cross street in Trafford and used to be the location for one of the most unattractive landmarks in the Trafford area. The development is near Greater Manchester’s busiest main roads, which means that the new properties will have good transport links into the centre and to the surrounding area.
This Cross Street development was started in 2015 and is now on the market under the Laurus brand of the Trafford Housing Trust. The development is also being marketed as part of the Trust’s profit for purpose policy. This is the policy that means any profits will be put in to developing more homes in the area. The work done by the Trafford Housing Trust is helping meet the demand for affordable housing in the Greater Manchester Area. The scheme employed by the group leads to the regeneration of disused shops and flats that are in a good location to be transformed in to more residential property.
