On the 8th of July, The Relay for Life took place in Stockport in order to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Among the teams of participants, looking to complete the challenge and to raise as much money as possible was Howarth Timber and Building Supplies.
The team from the construction supplies company was led by team captain and Marketing Manager for Howarth, Neale Brewster. Also a part of the eight person team that completed the 24 hour relay was the marketing executive Danny Graham, John Brandon, Gary Froggatt, Ratinder Sandhu, Stephen Hudson, Chris Jeffrey and Katie Mamwell.
The relay for Life is an event that is set up and run by Cancer Research UK. There are a number of different relay events held all around the country at varying times of the year. This year was the 12th Relay for Life to be held in Stockport.
Over the course of 24 hours, the team from Howarth Timber managed to walk around the relay track in order to raise £3,000 for the Cancer charity. The team captain has said that her is proud of himself and the rest of the team for working hard in order to complete this gruelling challenge in order to raise money for such a good cause.
The money that is raised for Cancer Research UK will go towards research and development of treatments and equipment that could lead to the earlier detection of Cancers, groundbreaking treatments and hopefully an end to the battle with cancer.
Howarth Timber and Building Supplies will be raising more money for Cancer research throughout 2017. The business has planned a range of company wide initiatives in order to raise money for the charity and there will also be a number of individual fundraising events all seeking to raise as much money as possible to further the research into the treatment of Cancer.
