In line with the UK Government’s vision to become a clean energy superpower, Tomato Energy has introduced the Smart Energy Communities initiative. This groundbreaking programme is set to help social housing providers and local authorities embrace renewable energy and accelerate climate action.
The initiative focuses on empowering communities to lower energy costs, create green jobs, and adopt sustainable energy solutions. It provides the tools necessary for local organisations to implement renewable energy systems that deliver lasting benefits.
Tomato Energy’s plan aligns with the government’s Great British Energy Local Power Plan, which aims to establish 1,000 renewable energy projects, including solar farms, wind power, and 100 carport projects. These projects aim to make clean energy more accessible and affordable for local communities.
The programme uses a scalable Energy as a Service model powered by Senapt, giving social housing providers the resources to develop smart energy systems with measurable results.
“By working within existing frameworks, Tomato Energy allows communities to start generating clean energy now without waiting for new regulations,” said Kenny Virdee of Tomato Energy.
“Our use of Senapt’s Energy as a Service software ensures that energy production and distribution is optimised, providing maximum value to residents.”
With this initiative, social housing providers and local councils have a unique opportunity to cut costs for tenants, promote sustainability, and help achieve the UK’s renewable energy goals.
