LAUNCHING A SHOPPABLE SHOW APARTMENT AT THE STAGE SHOREDITCH
Dara Huang, the entrepreneurial founder, architect and interior designer behind international design studio DH Liberty debuts her latest business venture, luxury online furniture brand and store Dara Maison, in a new two bedroom ‘East meets West’ show apartment at The Stage, Shoreditch. Dara Maison is a joint venture between Dara and Chris Burch, the American billionaire founder of Burch Creative Capital and co-founder of global fashion brand Tory Burch.
The show apartment, which is part of The Stage residential tower development by Cain International and Galliard Homes in the heart of London’s art and culture capital, Shoreditch, has been designed by Dara Maison and uses furniture, objet and art from the new online gallery-like store, Dara Maison. Dressed and turnkey, the 1142 sq ft two-bedroom, two bathroom apartment launches this October and is on the market for £1,765,000.
Drawing on the historic surroundings of the development, which is on the site of the old curtain theatre, made famous by Shakespeare and his troop who would perform here, and the raw character of the building’s base specification, which is industrial with bare bricks, metals and glass, Dara and team introduced soft furnishings and sculptural forms to help soften the space and bring a design to complement the overall feel of the development.
Dara Huang’s design concept for The Stage embraces a New York-inspired aesthetic, leveraging the space’s exposed brick and incorporating elements of black and white contrast punctuated by pops of lush green velvet. This distinctive approach marks a departure from many of Dara Huang’s signature projects, emphasising deeper tones and a bold yet balanced colour palette. Utilising Dara Maison furniture, the items skilfully infuse the space with multi-functionality, emphasising crisp lines and edges that complement the expansive windows and stunning views.
DH Liberty, established over 10 years ago, is currently working globally on projects as far reaching as a hotel in Costa Rica and an apartment in New York. The studio is renowned for its ability and skills to procure from a global network of trusted suppliers and artisans. It works in both architecture and interior design operating throughout the world. Dara met Chris Burch at a party in Paris, the two struck up a friendship and since, DH Liberty has worked on Burch’s property portfolio. Impressed by Dara and the team’s ability to design and procure interior furniture and accessories that felt different and tailorable, with Dara offering a personalisation service for all soft accessories, Burch and Huang set about to turn it into a 200-piece purchasable e-commerce product.
The launch of the new show apartment is released in tandem with the news that all three penthouses within the landmark development are now sold, moving the covetable residential address to being over 70% sold in total. Amenities within the building include The Sky Lounge which is situated on the 32 floor with views over London, 24/7 Rhodium concierge service, gym, two cinema screens and a complete arcade with bowling alleys and games.
David Galman, Head of Sales, The Stage, Shoreditch commented: “It’s been great to work with Dara and her team on the new show apartment at The Stage, we’ve been known for setting new standards here and it felt right to align with brands, Dara Maison and DH Liberty, that share in this approach. The final result is superb, and the concept that other future owners, even those who don’t buy this apartment, can shop the interiors and recreate the look is great. It’s been a standout project from start to finish and we’re really looking forward to debuting the new apartment and brand by Dara.”
Dara Huang, co-founder of Dara Maison and founder of DH Liberty commented: “For the Stage we wanted to create a unique space that showcases and emphasises the incredible history and overall design of the development and space. The design of our show apartment merges the beauty of bold and neutral tones, creating an atmosphere that seamlessly combines practicality with aesthetic allure, enriching the living experience within The Stage.”
