IF YOU’VE recently moved home, you’ll know that a tailored playlist is essential to keeping you motivated and getting jobs ticked off the moving day list, from packing boxes to getting settled on your first night under a new roof. And new data from national housebuilder Lovell Homes has revealed that Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso is the tune that most new homeowners choose to start their exciting new chapter.
The ultimate playlist for moving home was commissioned to celebrate the final few luxury homes available at Saxon Square in Manchester, including the four-bed Heartford – with plot five recently reduced to £439,950 with up to £24,000 towards a deposit – and the four-bed Leaford – with plot one recently reduced to £474,950 with up to £24,000 towards a deposit.
According to YouGov, more than half of those who listen to music every month do so through streaming services, with plenty of different playlists available to mark every milestone in life. To find out which tunes were most popular when moving home, Lovell scoured more than 3,900 of Spotify’s most popular playlists that are named and described after key aspects of the house moving process, creating top ten playlists associated with ‘moving day’, ‘decorating’, ‘new home’ and ‘housewarming’. They were then combined to create the ultimate home moving playlist.
Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso came out on top; a relatively new release that has undoubtedly been one of the stand-out hits of summer 2024. This may be why, with certain buyer demographics, this song appeared so high up – particularly for younger generations who may fall into the ‘first-time buyer’ category.
This was followed by noughties, feel-good classic Mr. Brightside by The Killers and another smash hit from this summer, Good Luck, Babe! By Chappel Roan.
Anne-Marie O’Doherty, regional sales director at Lovell, said: “Moving into a new home is one of the most significant and memorable milestones in life – a time filled with excitement, hope, and the chance to have a fresh start. Playing music is the perfect way to make these moments feel even more special and to create memories that you’ll replay again and again whenever you rehear the song.
“With Manchester being known for one of the UK’s biggest music scenes and the new Co-Op Live arena just within walking distance from Saxon Square, our playlist was the ideal way to celebrate the amazing memories we’ve created for families in our homes at Miles Platting, since first building homes there 16 years ago. Now, as we’re down to our last few homes at our final development in the area, there’s not long left to join this bustling community, and we look forward to welcoming the final few families to Saxon Square.”
