A new homes sales consultant who spends his working life helping other people find their dream home has now found the perfect place for himself.
Cambridgeshire first-time buyer Damien Crosby, 31, moved into his own two-bedroom detached coach-house apartment at Bovis Homes’ Quantum Fields location in Littleport.
Damien works as a sales advisor for Vistry Group, the housebuilding company which includes Bovis Homes, Linden Homes and Countryside Homes.
And he’s now just a short drive away from the development in Ely where he is currently based.
At work, while he was helping guide customers through the homebuying process, Damien often found himself wondering if it might be his turn to go through the same process one day.
He said: “I’ve been working at Vistry for just under five years, but it wasn’t really until the last 18 months when I started to seriously contemplate if I should make the move or not.
“I could see the quality of the homes I was selling to customers first-hand and so felt confident that I would have a good experience buying from Bovis Homes.
“I realised that my savings were losing their value in real terms in the bank, mortgage rates were going up, and I had spent £15,000 in the past two years in rent, so I decided it was time to buy a home.
“I always thought I would need a partner to buy a new home and get a mortgage but after a few years of saving, I made this happen.”
Damien previously lived in Cambridge where he was renting a shared home and had to commute 45 minutes each way to get to his job in Ely. His commute to work now takes him only five minutes.
He said: “I decided to move away from Cambridge to Littleport not just for the commute but because it is more affordable to live in this area. I still drive or get the train to Cambridge during my time off to catch up with friends and family.”
Damien is now enjoying settling into his new home. Bovis Homes’ Buckthorn design features an open-plan kitchen/living/dining room, two double bedrooms and a bathroom.
“I enjoy having the space that is available in my new home,” he said. “In the previous place I was living, it was a shared kitchen, so now having my own kitchen I feel like there is so much space available to me. I like having the freedom to cook at any time to suit myself.
“My favourite part of the home is the open-plan living room and kitchen as the skylight brings in so much light. I can easily switch off now after a long day at work, having my own space to unwind.”
There is currently a choice of three and four-bedroom houses available to reserve at Quantum Fields, priced from £300,000.
