Bellway Essex is preparing to release the first homes at its new development in Saffron Walden onto the market. PoppyViewwill launch later this year when the first properties become available for reservation.
The sales and marketing suite will open at the site off Thaxted Road where Bellway is building 150 new homes. The development will comprise 90 properties for private sale, including a mix of two, three and four-bedroom houses. The other 60 homes will be provided as affordable housing for low-cost rent or shared ownership and will feature a range of one to four-bedroom properties.
Jenny Walker, Sales Director at Bellway Essex, said: “Construction work has been progressing steadily since we started on site last spring and we are on track to complete the first homes atPoppyViewby the end of this year. This means we will be able to release the first homes onto the market and welcome visitors to the development very soon.
“We have already received a high number of enquiries from potential buyers. Saffron Walden is an extremely desirable market town and this development is conveniently situated just a mile from the town centre. We are expecting particular interest from commuters as Audley End railway station is just a 10-minute drive away.
“Buyers will be able to choose from a range of two, three and four-bedroom houses designed to cater for different tastes and budgets. A varied mix of affordable homes, which includes four bungalows and four apartments, will help to meet the diverse needs of local people unable to get onto the property ladder.”
Planning permission for the development was granted in January last year. The 19.6-acre site will also feature public open spaces and a children’s playground.
Jenny said: “This will be a development which blends in with its peaceful rural surroundings while providing much-needed new housing in the area.
“We are retaining the trees and hedges which already exist on this site. In addition to that, we will create a green edge of nearly 1km by planting native hedgerow along with 190 new trees.
“There will also be landscaped green spaces which will provide outdoor recreation areas for residents and the wider public.”
