Goldsmith Williams is one of the leading Law Firms in the UK. Today the firm has completed on a lease for a 13,000 sq. ft. of space. Their new space will be located on the fourth floor of 20 Chapel Street. The lease is to last for 10 years and Goldsmith Williams will relocate from their Mersey Chambers office around the middle of the year. The Law firm’s Liverpool office has been located at Mersey Chambers for the past 15 years. However, they are now looking for more modern premises, having sold their old building. The premises on Chapel Street will accommodate the 165 staff members in the firm.
The lease to Goldsmith Williams comes soon after the announcement that Orega, the serviced office provider, will be moving into the new building. Orega announced their intention at the end of February ad will take a 18,000 sq. ft. of space within the building scheme.
20 Chapel Street is owned by Canmoor, who bought the freehold of the site in June last year. The building was completed in 2008 and contains 155,000 sq. ft. of office space. Updates are being made to the building and work on these are due to be finished in June of this year. Canmoor is a private commercial property business. This investment into 20 Chapel Street and the lease to large companies like Goldsmith Williams and Orega should be profitable for the property business.
For Goldsmith Williams this move signifies the change for modern law firms. There are new systems like GWlive that the employees use to access cases at any time. Goldsmith Williams uses this management system on a national scale. With working relying on more technical systems it could seem appropriate that the long established law firm has moved in to a modern building to reflect this.
