The Nottingham based integrated building solutions provider, J Tomlinson has been appointed by main contractor Galliford Try to carry out the Mechanical and electrical engineering work on a 922-bedroomed, and £52.5 million student accommodation development. Galliford Try has been chosen to oversee this development by The Elite Group.
J Tomlinson mainly operate across the East Midlands, West Midlands and Yorkshire to offer a variety of integrated building solutions such as construction, refurbishment, repairs and maintenance, mechanical and electrical services and facilities management. The company have offices in Canwell and Sutton Coldfield and it is thought that this new contract will be key for the company’s M&E team. As a part of the bid, J Tomlinson used the One Team approach which involves working in collaboration and partnership with their customers and suppliers in order to deliver an effective solution.
The value of this contract for the integrated building solutions company has been set at £7.25 million and the work will take place on the site of a former garage near to Coventry city centre on Paradise Street. The new accommodation will be constructed across three blocks of three, with 12 and 14 storeys built with two additional low-rise house blocks. The development will also include landscaping, the creation of a recreational area to be enjoyed by students and an office and maintenance facilities to be used by the development’s proposed management company AXO Student Living. J Tomlinson will be working to design, supply, install and commission the mechanical, electrical and plumbing services for the project.
Work on the Student accommodation development has not started yet, although it is thought that work will get underway soon. The project is expected to be complete by August 2019. The Project Manager for J Tomlinson has been named as Phil Paddock.
