More than three-quarters of the homes at a development in Bidwell have been built. Bellway is delivering 165 new homes at Brambleside, off Thorn Road, to the north of Houghton Regis.
The Bidwell development, which will feature a new public open space, including footpaths, cycleways, orchards and a children’s play area, will form part of a new neighbourhood which will total 1,850 new homes. Bellway is building 127 homes for private sale and has completed all 38 affordable properties for local people through rent or shared ownership.
Luke Southgate, Sales Director for Bellway Northern Home Counties, said: “Construction is progressing very well at Brambleside and we are on course to finish on site in November this year.
“We have now entered the final stages of work, with just a handful of private homes left to be sold and occupied, with all of the affordable homes at the development now exchanged.
“The majority of buyers at Brambleside are relocating from London because they can get more for their money here than in the capital. Some are working from home more often so are prepared to live further away from the office, while others have been drawn by the good job opportunities provided by major employers in the area such as Amazon.
“At the same time, Brambleside is conveniently situated for commuting to both London and Milton Keynes. A new road connects the development straight to the M1, while Luton railway station is just a 20-minute drive away.
“Families are being drawn to the development because parents know the education provision is already good in the area, while a number of teachers relocating to work in the new schools being delivered as part of the wider development have moved to Brambleside.
“There has been a lot of interest in the new homes we are delivering at Brambleside and there are now only nine private houses still to be sold. Many buyers are choosing Bellway because of our superior quality of build, which is reflected by our status as a five-star builder.
“This status, which was awarded by the Home Builders Federation (HBF) because more than 90 per cent of our customers said they would recommend us to a friend, gives purchasers the confidence to know they are dealing with a company which constantly produces homes that are built to last.”
A range of two, three and four-bedroom properties are currently available at Brambleside, with prices starting at £298,000.
Bellway is also building new housing at Linmere, just three miles from Brambleside in Houghton Regis. Linmere is a fast-selling development of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes and is part of a wider consortium scheme delivering housing and community facilities.
