Construction work is progressing well at a new development in Weston-super-Mare, where nearly a third of the homes have been sold. Bellway South West is building 150 new homes at Mead Fields, on a site off Wolvershill Road in the seaside town.
The developer has sold 65 of the 131 new homes being built for private sale. The housebuilder is also delivering 19 affordable homes for local people through rent or shared ownership.
Buyers have moved into the 22 private homes which have been completed so far, while four of the affordable homes have been built and handed over to housing association Alliance Homes.
“Mead Fields is a very popular development which has generated a huge amount of interest from the outset. In fact, all of the new homes in the first phase of 32 properties sold within the first few months of their launch, such was the high level of demand,” said Rachel Way, Sales Manager for Bellway South West.
“The new homes in the second phase are selling very well and there are no signs of this easing up. The location of Mead Fields is key to its broad appeal to a wide range of buyers as it is near to the town centre and Weston-super-Mare Beach.
“We are delivering a range of two-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses that are proving attractive to first-time buyers, families, downsizers and commuters. So far, most of the buyers have been local people looking to stay in the area.
“We have had growing families purchasing four-bedroom houses because they need more space but want to stay local to be near family and friends and their children’s schools. Some of our customers have been first-time buyers purchasing the two-bedroom apartments while we have also seen some downsizers selling up and moving to a smaller property here.
“There is something for everyone here at Mead Fields but the properties are selling fast. We would recommend anyone thinking about a move to this sought-after development to contact us as soon as possible.”
Construction work started on the development in 2021 and is due to finish on site in 2023.
