Cameras have captured the progress of Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium, which is rising quickly on the north London skyline. The club still aims to open the new 62,062 seater stadium in time for Premier League, although Spurs are expected to ask the league to reschedule their opening few fixtures away from home, in order to allow extra time in case of unexpected delays.
By the looks of it, progress has been made on all sides of the stadium. Currently, perforated metal panels are being installed around the upper levels of its exterior, which will transform the ground floor into a venue for different occasions. The panels open and close, change character in different lighting conditions and 170 of them even feature multiple linear LED luminaires, which will make the stadium glow multiple colours on match nights, similar to Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena.
On the north side of the building, the new ticket office is being built, while the imposing west entrance is covered in glass. The shell-like eves on top of the roof cover now much of the ground, apart from the south and half of the east side of the stadium.
Also on view are the four giant cases which will hold the LED screens at each corner of the new ground. Portions of the LED screens are already being installed into the cases, piece by piece, with one of the screens looking finished in the photos above.
One of the enormous steel trees which support the south stand has now almost completely been painted white as it will look inside the giant glass atrium which will cover the stand when it is finished.
The new club megastore, which will be the biggest in Europe, is being built quickly in front of the west side of the stadium. Claims say that it could open as early as July, ahead of the stadium completion and on time for the next season’s Nike team kits.
