Property developer Bruntwood has chosen construction company John Sisk & Son (Sisk) to deliver the first phase of the commercial development at Circle Square, a new city centre neighbourhood in Manchester. Carrying a £96 million development value, the award comes after Sisk was chosen to deliver the £140 million Circle Square Affinity residential development for Bruntwood’s joint venture partner Select Property Group in November 2017.
Sisk will complete all current contract works on the project, which will employ at its peak 1,300 people during 2021.
“John Sisk & Son is delighted to be selected as construction partner to deliver the next phase of this exciting development on behalf of Bruntwood and Select Property Group. Both projects demonstrate Sisk’s commitment to building a long-term strategic alliance with the city and our clients,” said Sisk managing director for the UK North & Major Projects Guy Fowler.
Circle Square has a total development value of £750 million and it will provide an urban neighbourhood in Manchester. Delivered over three phases, more than two thirds of the scheme will be completed by 2020.
According to the masterplan, the project will feature 1.2 million square metres of commercial office space, 1,700 new homes and 100,000 ft2 of ground floor retail and leisure space for shops, studios, bars and restaurants.
Moreover, a multi storey car park and two hotels will also offer an additional amenity to the site, while approximately 250,000 ft2 of public realm will provide green space.
