The British Institute of Kitchen, Bedroom & Bathroom Installation (BiKBBI) has joined forces with global furniture fittings manufacturer Blum UK to launch Funding the Future of Installation, an initiative focused on growing the industry’s professional, compliant and reliable KBB installation workforce.
Since its inception back in 2006, BiKBBI’s purpose has been to drive positive change in the KBB installation sector through improving standards, compliance and education amongst the UK installation community. Today the institute represents thousands of installers across the country but with an industry aging workforce, a widening skills gap and the continued threat of unscrupulous opportunists descending upon the sector, it has never been more important for the industry to grow a network of independently accredited KBB installation specialists.
Blum UK’s support of the Funding the Future of Installation initiative is testament to the brand’s intrinsic commitment to education and development, as well as recognising the importance of the installation sector for all areas of the industry. Blum UK’s Technical Manager, Matthew Glanfield commented ‘As a corporate sponsor of BiKBBI, we are fully supportive of the work that the institute does in both striving to improve the installation sector and being the conduit between installers and the manufacturers, distributors and retailers that are reliant on them. Blum’s history demonstrates the importance we place in education and standards, and Funding the Future of Installation provides the perfect vehicle for us to make a real difference and support the need for professional, compliant and educated installers in a tangible way’.
Launching at InstallerSHOW 24, BiKBBI and Blum UK will work together to sponsor annual BiKBBI registration for 50 KBB installation businesses currently not registered to BiKBBI. Visitors to the BiKBBI stand (4B19) can simply scan their visitor badge with a member of the BiKBBI team in order to be considered for the Funding the Future of Installation programme.
BiKBBI CEO, Damian Walters, commented ‘Funding the Future of Installation is a ground-breaking approach to growing and strengthening a compliant KBB installation workforce – the vital community of tradespeople that serve all areas of the industry. Never before has there been a scheme that enables those businesses reliant on the installation sector to directly impact the number of registered, professional and compliant installers operating in the KBB industry in this way, and to be doing so in partnership with such an established and well-respected brand as Blum UK is significant in our organisation’s history.
