Elevate has launched a RIBA approved CPD seminar to help specifiers design roofs that improve sustainability.
The CPD explores how different elements in the roof can create a more environmentally sustainable building. The impact of different construction materials at each stage of a building’s life is explained followed by the importance of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). The core factors to consider when designing a roof add to the learning, including thermal performance, the latest fire regulations and how a correct installation is critical to a project’s success.
Delegates will also learn about the role of single-ply roofing membranes, the environmental impact of different types, and how to enhance a roof’s green credentials through measures such as solar panels, and green and blue roof construction.
Carl Bailey, regional technical manager for Elevate UK & Ireland, said: “As the need to improve environmental sustainability increases across the construction industry, roof design has a key role to play.
“Through our CPD, our aim is to guide specifiers through the key considerations with a focus on flat roof construction, how to choose the most appropriate materials and the environmental benefits of single-ply waterproofing. Delegates will also gain a greater understanding of how to comply with UK British Standards and codes of practice.”
The CPD seminar is delivered in person by members of Elevate’s technical team and can be booked by visiting www.ribacpd.com.
