COUNTY Durham lighting manufacturer, Artech Lighting, bolstered its eco-credentials by creating lighting for one of the UK’s most sustainable office blocks.
“Eden” in Manchester is illuminated by over 3,000 products the Durham firm’s Flowline, Tenus, Globo and Nitor ranges, with Artech collaborating with A&B Engineering to create a lighting system that promotes wellbeing and productivity.
Alongside products from its existing ranges, Artech also provided bespoke pieces, including low wattage/maximum efficiency lighting, that reduced energy consumption whilst maximising output.
Manchester is set to become a zero-carbon city by 2038, taking a relentless approach to sustainability through the design and development of Eden, which will be powered by 100% high quality renewable electricity.
The office block holds a BREEAM Outstanding rating, a WiredScore platinum rating, as well as being a completely net zero carbon project, with help from Artech’s eco-friendly lighting solutions.
Boasting Europe’s largest green wall façade, the eye-catching project is a breath of fresh air within a thriving city district, with Artech creating a vibrant space to encourage productivity.
Managing Director, Stuart Hylton, said: “We’re delighted to supply such a remarkable project. Eden sets the bar for modern eco-friendly construction and our latest generation LED products play a pivotal role in that. It’s not every day an exceptional project like this comes along and we relish the challenge to test ourselves against the stringent net zero standards set.
“Manufacturing in a sustainable way is extremely important to us, and to see such a landmark development achieve these credentials with our products is fantastic.”
Sales Director, Sean Kirkland, said: “Artech has a laser focus on environmental impact in everything we do, so providing the lighting for one of the UK’s most sustainable office developments is something we’re really excited about!
“A great amount of effort went into creating the ideal solution for Eden and was designed to enhance the environment and provide a greener workspace. Our design team collaborated with A&B engineering and the design team, guaranteeing top quality standard from production to installation.”
From energy efficient lighting to bird boxes and rainwater harvesting, Eden is designed with the environment in mind and net zero carbon at its core.
