Leading precision manufacturer Cube Glass has made a series of new hirings and promotions as it continues a sustained period of organic growth.
The Cumbernauld-based company, which manufactures and installs aluminium doors and windows, has hired Gary Stevenson as its new Project Manager and Craig Bennett as Commercial Manager. In addition, Trevor Clark has been promoted to Operations Manager.
Gary Thorn, Founder and Managing Director of Cube Glass, said: “Gary arrives with a wealth of experience having started life as a joiner before turning to the aluminium fenestration discipline in 1996 as an installer and has worked his way up to the position of project manager for some well-respected companies in Scotland.
“Craig has worked for a number of main contractors including Morris and Spottiswood and returns to us as our Commercial Manager having spent four years here between 2018 – 2022.
“Trevor started life as a fabricator at the age of 16 and very quickly rose through the ranks of estimating, buying, project supervisor, and project management to become our new operations manager.
“We welcome all of them in their new roles and look forward to them delivering the highest possible standards our customers deserve and demand.”
Mr Thorn added that Cube Glass is currently on a sustained recruitment drive and is seeking a number of experienced fabricators and more project management support staff.
Unusually for a manufacturing SME, one fifth of the shares in Cube Glass are owned by members of the team, entitling them both to part-ownership and annual dividends arising from the company’s profitability.
The shareholding arrangement, transacted under HMRC’s approved Enterprise Management Incentive (EMI) scheme, was put in place in September 2022. In addition, for the last thirteen years, all employees of the business have received a bonus each October, again based on the company’s profitability. As well as this, the employees enjoy private health cover.
The business has pushed its turnover to a record £4.5min the year to October 2023, up from £3.25m in the previous year. It now hopes to consolidate future revenues around this level.
Cube Glass, which was established in 2004, focuses on curtain walling, doors, windows, glass roofing systems and shop fronts as well as bullet, bomb and blast resistant glass. It supplies sectors including education, health, industrial, social care, commercial property and residential homes.
