Building and Civil Engineering company Britcon has been awarded a contract for two projects in Scunthorpe. Working in their home town, Britcon has secured the work from North Lincolnshire Council. These two building project have been tendered as part of a larger development project which will see around £60 million invested into the town.
The work to transform Scunthorpe is already underway, with the first project already being carried out. Britcon is involved in this first project, the creation of a new HQ for North Lincolnshire’s largest housing provider, Ongo Homes. This £5.8 million development will be fitted by Britcon with a Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery, Air Source Heat Pump on the roof, and intelligent BMS system. This equipment will help to monitor the internal environment of the new headquarters and will intelligently be able to cut down running costs and CO2 emissions used for heating the building. The new HQ for Ongo Homes will be located in Church Square. The work is planned to be complete in March 2018.
The second project that has been secured by Britcon is due to start in the Autumn. Church Square House is the main operating base for council leadership. Britcon will be working on an extension of the existing main council building as a part of work that has been valued at £5.7 million. The extension work will run in to 2018 and reflects the plans to create an updated area for places to live, work, study, invest and visit.
It is great news that Britcon have been appointed to work on this project, as the company has their headquarters in Scunthorpe and has been in operation in this area since they were first established in 1990. Britcon is well known as being the North of England’s most successful and progressive companies.
