Steel manufacturer British Steel has announced that following the contract to supply the steel for Scunthorpe United’s new stadium, the company will also be forming a partnership with the football club which will see British Steel represented on Scunthorpe United’s New season kit as well as the club and the steel supplier working together on a number of different community and charity projects.
British Steel is in the process of completing their first year of trading and has been contracted to supply the steel for the 12,000 seat new stadium for The Iron. The new stadium is being developed as part of the Lincolnshire Lake housing development which will be situated on the West of the town of Scunthorpe. With the football team getting close to promotion last year hopefully a new stadium and the extra fans gained from the engineers working on the new home ground will help boost the team to succeed this season.
The continued partnership that will occur this upcoming 2017-2018 football season was announced at the new season kit unveiling which displayed the British Steel logo on the claret and blue striped home shirts. The steel that will be supplied to build the new 12,000 seat stadium will be made in Scunthorpe before being sent to be rolled at the British Steel Beam Mill which is located in Teesside.
The work that the Club and the Steel manufacturer will carry out in the community will focus on education and training. There will also be events to raise money for charity, with the partners of British Steel taking part in an event that has already been organised called British Steel Day in order to try and raise as much money as possible for the Steel company’s charity which is the Lindsey Lodge Hospice.
Scunthorpe United start the new season on the 5th of August and will play AFC Wimbledon at Glanford Park.
