Galliford Try has announced a ‘Starter Home Initiative’ in South Ribble, Penwortham. First time buyers in this area are expected to benefit from this development initiative. Galliford Try Partnerships are a leading house and regeneration specialist that markets the homes they produce with Linden Homes. The company has submitted a detailed application for planning permission to the South Ribble Council. The application covers a plan to redevelop an area just off Hill Road South in Penwortham.
The proposal has been focused on providing homes that are new and affordable homes for people that are looking to get on to the property ladder. On the derelict site in South Ribble Galliford Try Partnerships are looking to build 61 homes. It is thought that 50% of the new homes that are built as part of this development will be sold under the banner of the award winning company Linden Homes. These properties will include three and four bedroomed semi-detached and detached family homes. The other 50% of the homes on the Penwortham site will be sold as part of the ‘Starter Homes Initiative’. These properties will include a mix of two bedroomed apartments and houses.
The Starter Homes Initiative is a government backed programme looking to offer first time buyers between the ages of 23 and 40 a minimum discount of 20% of the market value of a new home. This could significantly help those looking to get on to the property market but are struggling to get access to the proper funding.
The site to be developed measures at 4.2 acres and was previously owned by The Homes and Communities Agency. Galliford Try managed to successfully acquire the site last month, and the planning application has followed this. The proposed development is to be called The Maltings and it is thought that the first completions of the project will occur in Summer 2018.
