The Grand Union Housing Group is a provider of affordable housing and other related services. The Group works in Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire. Encourage is the Grand Union Housing Group brand that covers the services provided by the housing group. Encourage will soon be benefitting from new sensory equipment that will be installed in their accommodation. The new equipment has been made available through fundraising efforts, as five people will be running the London Marathon on the 23 April.
Encourage works alongside care providers in order to deliver the required amount of care and the support required for adults with learning disabilities. Encourage also works to support adults with mental health issues too. The company is also involved it extra care housing, retirement housing and community alarm as well as offering support services for domestic abuse refuges and day care places for people living with dementia.
Residents that are supported by the Group are given tailored packages in order to make sure that they are included when making decisions about changes to their home. It is thought that the Group offers an environment that is welcoming for their residents. The Group also aims to allow people to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible. The support offered by the Group is invaluable to their clients and the money raised will help a number of people.
The people taking part in the London Marathon are all staff members of the GUHG. Among them, the Area Development Manager, Cherise Berridge is taking part in the marathon after visiting Poplar Tree Court in Bedfordshire. Raising money in aid of the Group will allow for more funding to be put in to quality accommodation and care services. Berridge has admitted that she isn’t someone who runs often but has running the London Marathon on her bucket list.
