Hackwood is a global leading manufacturer of high quality wooden floors. The company were selected to on the refurbishment of a Victorian family home. Working with Claire McDonald and Graham Massey from creativemass architects, the floor manufacturers delivered flooring with a herringbone pattern to polish off and compliment the other features of the newly refurbished Victorian building.

Hakwood is a specialist company for offering tailored wood solutions and has been working for 40 years to offer excellent standards and innovations in the products that the company produces. The company works across all areas of the market including residential, commercial, retail and hospitality.

The old victorian building had been converted into a number of small studios, but after it was purchased from a family who was relocating from Italy, the large building has been revitalised and turned into a large family home. The architects used the original features and created a design that highlighted them.

The architects working on the project, creativemass, was founded by Claire McDonald and Graham Massey. The pair have been working together for 20 years and have created a wide range of award winning buildings during this time. The architects have a wealth of experience for designing spaces that are special and elegant while remaining practical.

Victorian houses are well known for having relatively surprising floorplans, with a range of more secretive spaces, according to Claire McDonald. It is because of this that the flooring selected for the redevelopment is herringbone in design. This flooring is less linear than straight planks and and also adds atmosphere to the rooms.

The Victorian home in Castelnau in Barnes, London also has a few more modern twists, with the family room designed to be a bright room with splashes of colour, in contrast to the dark wooden features and traditional leather furniture in other parts of the house.
