Established in 1897, Novus Property Solutions is a contractor that is involved in building, maintaining and refurbishing buildings, providing a high standard of work since its establishment. Employing 1000 people who offer construction services to sectors including health, leisure, retail and education. Novus also has 30 offices around the UK.
Novus Property Solutions was involved in the creation of the brand new Premier Inn Training Centre, a project taken on for a college in Shropshire. Derwen College in Oswestry is a college that has worked with young people who have to deal with learning difficulties and disabilities. With students’ ages from 16 to 25, the college is training these young people to have independence as well as arming them with the necessary skills for the workplace. Derwen College has had a partnership with Whitbread since 2013. This partnership has allowed its students practical work experience in Premier Inn hotels since the partnership was created.
The building project took Novus five weeks and a team of 40 operatives in order to complete the training centre which contains an exact replica of Premier Inn suites. The Novus staff volunteered all of the time it took to finish the project as well as donating materials which included TVs, curtains, carpets and bathroom fixtures and fittings for the training centre. The development project required demolishing internal walls in order to rearrange the space in order to create the state of the art facility. The training centre includes three separate hotel rooms with en-suite bedrooms.
The facility, built with the intention of feeling just like a Premier Inn Hotel will be able to give the students practical housekeeping skills that will be required to complete their training at the college. Familiarising them with the setting will boost their confidence when on placement at an actual Premier Inn as well as becoming more familiar with the hotel layouts.
