Barratt and David Wilson Homes, Scotland’s Housebuilder of the Year has announced that they have formed a partnership with St. Andrew’s First Aid, Good Egg Safety and the regional organisation, Community Safety Teams in order to release and promote their new Child Safety at Home Campaign across Scotland.
Play Scotland, a charitable organisation that has been funded by the Scottish Government has recently published the results of a survey that has shown that parents are growing more and more anxious about traffic levels, stranger danger and a lack of secure areas to play that they are keeping them indoors. However, it has also been shown that there the number of accidents taking place in the home is also increasing because children are spending longer indoors.
The Scottish Housebuilder of the Year Awards will be working, with the assistance of their safety partners to deliver s series of free events that will have a clear focus on child safety in the home as well as first aid at home. These events will take place in showrooms across Scotland, and the housing developer will also be carrying out a home safety roadshow that will tour a range of local parent and toddler groups. On offer as a part of these events will be a free range of Safety Guides for the home, developed by Good Egg. These guides will also be available in Barratt and David Wilson Sales offices across Scotland. This award-winning safety information will be on offer to help parents and grandparents to fix the dangers that are going unseen in the home.
It is hoped that this initiative will help to keep their children safer in the home with the help of a number of simple changes. The safety guides developed by Good Egg have been created with the support of ROSPA, or The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents as well as St. Andrews First Aid and NHS Health Scotland.
